Troppo tardi.
samurai, con lo yukata di suo padre
like a samurai in his father's yukata

A presto,
ciaociao

Thursday is late to look for a Carnival costume for the school party for the next Mardi Gras. Too late.

Yesterday was Mardi Gras so my kid’s school organized a Carnival party and everyone had to dress up with a mask. That’s why last week I found myself “panicking”: the yukata of his father that he used to dress up like a samurai has become too small, so I searched in shops and shopping centers for hours but found nothing: all cheap costumes were sold and the few remained were far too expensive.
“And my ninja costume?” he asked me disappointed. I had no choice, I had to try to do something with what I had… but what did I have? Not much. Then suddenly, an idea crossed my mind! I could use those pair of Indian pants that yes, I liked a lot, but didn’t wear for a long time.
So I did it! I took the pants from the wardrobe, I measured the kid and I started cutting.

Then I gave the cloth to my mum to sew the hems ( I can do it, but I’m not as good as mum!), I added a couple of strips and the mask was ready. Maybe it wasn’t perfect, but that’s be best we could do.
Unfortunately he couldn’t dress up properly at school because he dressed up by himself. He said that next year I have to buy a costume! But well, this year, we nailed it J

In the afternoon, after school he invited a couple of friends to have a Carnival play date at home.
I put on the table some Carnival biscuits ( I bought them because I had no time to cook any), Harlequin’s pudding and some streamers…et violà, the Carnival play date is ready.
To prepare the Harlequin pudding I used 4 vanilla puddings, and a chocolate one. I colored 3 vanilla puddings just adding some colred gel for cake decorations and I put different layers of different colors in all the glasses. Easy peasy.
The kids ate a lot and had a lot of fun!

And what did you do on Carnival?
See you soon,

ciaociao
